Senate GOP Waits on Democrats to Decide on Their Own Health Plan

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said he doesn’t expect Republicans to settle on their own plan for expiring health care subsidies until Democrats reveal their proposal — setting up a grim timeline to head off cost increases for Obamacare enrollees.

Republicans across both chambers are deeply divided over how to address a tier of expiring insurance subsidies. Thune guaranteed Democrats a floor vote on a proposal of their choosing by the end of next week. Senate Republicans aim to hold their own vote on a health care plan to counter Democrats, but haven’t agreed on what that will be.
