Senate Health Panel Delays Vote on Generics Bill During Markup

Fiery remarks flew between the top Republican and Democrat on one of the Senate’s health panels Wednesday during what was planned to be a bipartisan markup of legislation to tackle drug pricing bills and health program reauthorizations.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) offered nine amendments—some of which were unrelated to the underlying Ensuring Timely Access to Generics Act (S. 3014), a generic drugs bill—during a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee markup, a move that needled his Republican counterpart.
