Senate leaders on Wednesday released a landmark bill that would require major social media platforms to prevent harm to children and teenagers online—reviving a bipartisan effort that came close to becoming law last Congress.

The high-profile measure, known as the Kids Online Safety Act, seeks to rein in technology companies, such as TikTok Inc., Snap Inc., and Meta Platforms Inc.‘s Facebook and Instagram, to take steps to protect their youngest users more effectively.
