Senators and their staff are preparing for a government shutdown that could limit work, travel and services available on Capitol Hill.
The guidance comes as Congress heads toward a funding deadline at midnight with a shutdown expected to start on Wednesday.
Senate offices will need to determine what staff is needed to support work for legislating and emergencies and which will not be permitted to work, according to a copy of guidance obtained by Bloomberg Government.
