DHS Funding Lands Back on House’s Plate After Senate Move (2)

The Senate again sent a measure to fund all of the Department of Homeland Security except immigration enforcement to the House after Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) backtracked.

Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) took the procedural step on the floor early Thursday to reject the House message and send the Senate bill back to the House — advancing the bill a second time in the Senate.

The Senate’s move puts the ball back in the House’s court after Republicans there rejected the same effort last week. Now the chamber’s GOP leaders are aligned on a two-track plan to end the shutdown ...
