Senate Rejects Rollback of Trump Student Loan Repayment Rule

The Trump administration’s eligibility changes for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program will likely move ahead after senators on Wednesday blocked a bid to overturn them.

The Senate rejected by voice vote a motion to take up S. J. Res. 182, which would have overturned an Education Department regulation disqualifying borrowers from the loan forgiveness program because of their employer’s activities. The program was established in 2007.
