Senate Republicans backed a largely partisan budget Friday morning that will heighten tensions with House Republicans over tax cuts and serve as fodder for Democratic political attacks.
Senators voted 52-48 to adopt a budget resolution kick starting the GOP bid to pass a spending package through the reconciliation process. The procedure allows senators to pass budget-focused measures with a simple majority, bypassing the filibuster.
