Senate Republicans Send Alaska Oil, Gas Leasing Boost to Trump

Legislation to reopen fossil fuel leasing in a million acres of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is headed to President Donald Trump for his signature.

The Senate voted 49-45 on Thursday to pass a disapproval resolution (H.J. Res. 131) repealing a Biden administration move to limit oil and gas leasing in the coastal plain of ANWR. The House passed the measure in November.
