Senators will start work on their first three government-spending bills on July 10, beginning with markups of measures to fund the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, and Justice, along with Congress itself.
The Agriculture-FDA, Commerce-Justice-Science, and Legislative Branch bills would provide funding for fiscal 2026, which begins Oct. 1.
Senate appropriators publicly release the text of the bills the same day as the full committee markup. The panel traditionally produces measures with bipartisan support, though there are still heated policy fights at the markups.
