Senate Unanimously Sends Opioid Response Bill to White House (1)

The Senate by voice vote cleared a bill to reauthorize opioid response programs, even as President Donald Trump seeks to cut them.

The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act (H.R. 2483) renews programs that lapsed in 2023, including ones that support substance use treatment for pregnant and postpartum women as well as training for first responders.

“The SUPPORT Act is supporting those who are delivering that primary care, that first responder care, that care of a family to a loved one who might be addicted,” Bill Cassidy (R-La.) said on the Senate floor.
