Senators will get all of October off heading into 2024 elections in addition to the traditional August recess, according to a copy of the schedule obtained by Bloomberg Government.
The tentative schedule — always subject to change when Congress races key legislative deadlines — shows the Senate in session for 29 weeks next year. The body typically meets Mondays through Thursdays in weeks it’s working.
Recesses lasting two weeks are planned around federal holidays including President’s Day, Easter, July 4, and Christmas. Senators would also have days off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth.
