Funding Cuts Spare Overseas Food Aid

Senate Republicans sent a message to the Trump administration as they advanced a package rescinding $9 billion in federal funding: don’t touch international food aid.

The bill, which awaits a final vote in the House, includes language barring funding cuts that would affect the administration of two programs formerly managed by the now-shuttered US Agency for International Development: Food for Peace and McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition.
