Senators Urge Rubio to Fund Global Vaccination Campaign (1)

Key senators are pressing Secretary Marco Rubio to tap congressionally-approved funds to fulfill the US pledge to support global vaccination campaigns.

Appropriators overseeing the State Department said it has access to $600 million over two fiscal years to support Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. That international public-private partnership helps to vaccinate children in some of the world’s poorest countries.

“GAVI plays a critical role in averting the spread of preventable diseases around the globe and helps protect public health in our country by stopping outbreaks before they reach our border,” wrote top senators on the Appropriations Committee, including Chair Susan Collins ...
