Speaker and Trump Meeting Again Ahead of Spy Powers Deadline

Speaker Mike Johnson will return to the White House for the second day in a row to discuss an expiring spy powers tool with President Donald Trump, according to two aides familiar with the meeting.

The meeting comes just two days before Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is set to expire barring congressional action. Democrats have resisted voting for what’s typically a bipartisan reauthorization due to Trump’s decision to make Federal Housing Director Bill Pulte the acting Director of National Intelligence.
