Speaker Johnson’s Chief to Join K&L Gates in Move to K Street

Speaker Mike Johnson’s departing chief of staff will start mid-month at K&L Gates, the law firm announced Thursday, after almost a decade at the head of Johnson’s office.

Chief of Staff Hayden Haynes will serve as a government affairs counselor starting on June 15 in the firm’s DC office, according to the press release. Haynes began working as Johnson’s (R-La.) chief in 2017, years before House Republicans elevated him to speaker following Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) ouster.
