Sports lobbying can bet on grabbing the attention of the capital’s highest-placed official: the fan in chief.

President Donald Trump has done much to raise the profile of an estimated trillion-dollar industry, from attending last week’s college football championship to planning an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the White House lawn to convening National Football League, Major League Baseball and other commissioners for a confab over festivities for the nation’s 250th birthday.

His administration also wants to bring an IndyCar race to the National Mall to celebrate America 250.
