Stabenow Releases Farm Bill Draft as GOP Prepares Extension (2)

Senate Agriculture Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) published her committee’s draft of a five-year farm bill Monday as her House GOP counterpart said he’s preparing a temporary extension contingency plan, with just over a month before major programs start to expire.

The Senate draft is a Hail Mary attempt to pass a long-delayed $1.5 trillion farm bill before Republicans’ power trifecta begins in January.
