Tax bill headed for long Senate slog

House Republicans are on the verge of passing their sweeping tax and spending package this morning. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) just closed the debate and lawmakers are taking their final votes.

It took negotiations throughout the day, and a record-setting 21-hour Rules Committee markup, to produce a measure that could get through the chamber.
