A handful of congressional lawmakers focused on technology policy were among the tens of thousands of officials who attended the annual South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, to debate the future of artificial intelligence regulation.

Congress is trying to strike a balance between promoting the booming AI industry and establishing appropriate guardrails on the emerging technology. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) and Rep.
