Tech Groups Target NY AI Measure to Curb Public Safety Risks

Technology groups, with one month left in the session, are ramping up opposition against New York legislation that would prevent bioweapons development and other abuses from artificial intelligence.

The bill (S.B. 6953) would unfairly require AI developers proactively address potential harm, reads a Monday letter to legislative leaders first obtained by Bloomberg Government and signed by the Chamber of Progress, NetChoice, Business Software Alliance, Computer and Communications Industry Association, R Street and others.
