Tech Opposition Imperils Legislative Push to Sunset Internet Law

Technology trade groups and digital rights advocates are rallying against legislation to sunset Section 230, threatening the renewed congressional push.

“We urge Congress to avoid proposals that could jeopardize this vital law and reject the current proposal to repeal it without a clear plan to mitigate the devastating consequences that such an action would have on our entire economy,” Carl Holshouser, executive vice president at TechNet, which represents a range of tech companies from Apple Inc. to Uber Technologies Inc. and Zoom, wrote in a letter to lawmakers on Wednesday.
