Patients getting hospital-level services at home face another potential disruption in January when government funding expires, forcing caregivers to plan early wind-downs even before another shutdown begins.

Health service providers halted programs allowing Medicare beneficiaries to receive services at home during the recent government shutdown, causing care disruptions and forcing patients to reenter hospitals. Now, with a short-term extension only going to Jan. 30, providers and industry advocates are pushing for a longer extension and bracing to close down services again.
