Government Funding Isn’t Finished Yet
The shutdown may be over, but lawmakers face a long road ahead to fund the government long-term.
The continuing resolution President Donald Trump signed into law last week included three full-year spending bills, but those bills — Military Construction-VA, Agriculture-FDA, and Legislative Branch — make up just about 10% of discretionary spending.
The remaining nine bills will be much harder to pass — and appropriators don’t have much time. Government funding expires on Jan. 30, leaving just under three months to avert another shutdown.
