Holding a majority in Congress requires winning across a wide variety of districts, with different interests, demographics, and political leanings. It makes actually governing in Congress that much harder.

That’s the dilemma facing House Republicans this week as the GOP megabill is pulled between hard-line conservatives from deep red districts and their colleagues who represent moderate and even left-leaning territory.
