Thune Shoots Down Prospect of Senate Votes on Carveout Pay Bills

Majority Leader John Thune cast doubt on whether the Senate would move forward on one-off funding bills as the government shutdown drags on.

“There’s not a high level of interest in doing carve-outs or so-called rifle shots. I think most people recognize the way to get out of this mess is to vote to open up the government,” Thune (R-S.D.) told reporters at the Capitol on Tuesday.
