The top Democrat on the House Education and Workforce Committee is calling for the Education Department to tighten guardrails around its efforts to expand the Pell Grant program to short-term workforce training.
Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) said in a letter to Education Secretary Linda McMahon that the so-called Workforce Pell program will help alleviate financial barriers people may face in accessing such training often taught at community and technical colleges, “helping prepare workers to compete in the modern workforce.”
