Top Democrat Rejects Insurgent Bid to Ban Lawmaker Stock Trades

The House’s top Democrat slammed the Republican leading a push to ban congressional stock trades Tuesday, endangering the effort to prohibit trading by lawmakers.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) last week filed a discharge petition on the ban after accusing leaders in both parties of slow-walking it. Lawmakers can force a vote on any legislation if they can get a majority of the House to sign a discharge petition .
