Rep. Mark Green is resigning from Congress, leaving an opening on a key committee overseeing border management and the Department of Homeland Security.

The Tennessee Republican announced his impending departure Monday, saying he’s leaving for “an opportunity in the private sector that was too exciting to pass up.” He added that his resignation will be effective as soon as the House clears a sweeping GOP reconciliation package that includes more than $100 billion for border security and immigration enforcement.
