Top Republican Says Compromise Defense Policy Bill Out Next Week

The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said he’s ready to file the national defense authorization bill negotiated with the Senate next week.

“We are getting very close,” Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) told Bloomberg Government on Tuesday. There is a “narrow set of issues,” left to negotiate, he added, without disclosing any details.

The Republican and Democratic leaders of the Senate and House Armed Services committees, or the Big Four, met Tuesday for the first time to hash out differences, Rogers said.
