Trump Antagonist Katie Porter Joins Race for California Governor

Former US Representative Katie Porter has joined a crowded field of Democrats in the 2026 race to succeed California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Porter, 51, a former law professor who represented Orange County in the House of Representatives for six years, was elected in the so-called blue wave of 2018. She built a national profile by often challenging Trump administration officials with tough questioning during the president’s first term.
