Trump Builds Pressure to End Filibuster But K Street Has Doubts

President Donald Trump and MAGA online influencers loyal to him are ratcheting up the pressure on Senate Republicans to abolish the filibuster, but many K Street lobbyists say those campaigns aren’t likely to work.

“TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, and get our airports, and everything else, moving again,” Trump posted Thursday on social media. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has told Trump there isn’t enough support to overturn the chamber’s signature rule that requires 60 votes to advance legislation.
