The Trump administration’s pick to lead a key cybersecurity agency is closer to confirmation despite some Democrats’ objections to his election security views.
The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Wednesday advanced the nomination of Sean Plankey to lead the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in a 9-6 vote. The committee’s approval tees up final Senate floor votes for Plankey.
Plankey, if confirmed, will be tasked with downsizing the agency’s footprint even as cyber threats proliferate in the US.
