President Donald Trump is backtracking on the White House’s affordability push, playing down cost-of-living issues as a “con job” by Democrats.
Speaking to reporters this week, Trump took credit for bringing down inflation and blamed his predecessor, Joe Biden, for high prices. The president also faulted Democrats for making “affordability” a political issue.
“The word affordability is a Democrat scam,” Trump said. “They say it, and then they go into the next subject, and everyone thinks, ‘oh, they had lower prices.’ No, they had the worst inflation in the history of our country.”
