Some Senate Republicans are warming to the idea that the chamber should kill the legislative filibuster, revealing a further divide in the caucus after President Donald Trump made a direct plea to them.

Trump invited Senate Republicans to the White House on Wednesday for breakfast where he warned them it would be a mistake not to terminate the filibuster, after repeatedly making the request over social media. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) left the meeting saying again that the votes aren’t there — a view backed up by other GOP senators.
