Trump Funding Threat Fuels Sherrill Attack in NJ Governor’s Race

President Donald Trump has given Rep. Mikie Sherrill an opening in her tight race against Republican Jack Ciattarelli to become New Jersey governor by threatening to freeze funding for a long-delayed project to improve rail access under the Hudson River.

“I will fight tooth and nail to complete this essential infrastructure project for New Jersey,” the Democratic congresswoman said in a Wednesday statement hours after the deadline expired for keeping the government funded in the new fiscal year. “Jack Ciattarelli will not.”
