Trump Has Little Obvious Leverage on Commanders Name Change (1)

There’s one big flaw in President Donald Trump’s threat to hold up a deal for the NFL’s Washington Commanders to build a new stadium unless the team changes its name.

The deal is already done.

The National Park Service transferred the 177-acre site of the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium to the District of Columbia in February, according to documents filed with the Register of Deeds.

That transfer, which follows a bill signed by President Joe Biden in January, effectively gives the district a 99-year lease to build a new stadium, training facility and offices for the team — ...
