Trump Move Hitting Retailers Shein, Temu Cemented by Senate (1)

Senate Republicans voted Tuesday to eliminate duty-free imports for cheap foreign goods, moving to permanently close a loophole relied on by two Chinese merchandise giants.

The language in a sweeping tax and spending bill (H.R. 1) would end a tariff exemption for packages under $800 from all foreign countries, expanding President Donald Trump’s executive order from earlier this year axing the immunity on shipments from China and Hong Kong.
