Trump Naming DNI Pick Not Enough for FISA Support, Democrat Says

Rep. Jim McGovern, the top Democrat on the Rules Committee, said President Donald Trump selecting a nominee to serve as director of national intelligence isn’t enough to sway him to vote for an extension of a key US spy powers tool without additional changes.

“I had problems with the way the FISA language was drafted. I’m worried about privacy issues,” McGovern (D-Mass.) said at an exclusive roundtable with Bloomberg Government reporters and editors Thursday, referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. “I’m worried about protecting people’s privacy, and I’m worried about how they want to weaponize things.”
