Trump’s HHS Budget Requests $111 Billion, MAHA Overhaul (1)

President Donald Trump’s 2027 Friday budget proposal suggests funding the Health and Human Services Department at $111.1 billion, a proposed budget cut of $15.8 billion—or 12.5%—from the 2026 enacted level. The administration’s also continued its push to combine multiple agencies into an Administration for a Healthy America.

Some of the cuts listed in the HHS budget include a $5 billion trim to the National Institutes of Health, and another $5 billion cut from its AHA restructure.

Initially announced last year, the new office would combine agencies overlooking mental health grants, programs for individuals living with HIV, and community health centers. ...
