President Donald Trump is seeking to cut federal funding for the Commerce Department by $1.3 billion in the fiscal 2027 budget proposal delivered to Congress on Friday.
The White House has requested $9.2 billion for the agency for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1, marking a 12.2% decrease from the current level. The proposal builds off Trump’s push since taking office to reduce overall federal spending.
