Trump Says Hostilities Against Iran Over, Warns of More Threats

President Donald Trump Friday officially notified US Congress that the “hostilities” against Iran are over even as he warned that the country still poses “significant” threats, signaling a prolonged military mission in the Middle East.

At the 60-day mark of the war, the White House has to either inform Congress that it needs a 30-day extension to continue operations without congressional authorization or declare the war ended.

“The hostilities that began on February, 28, 2026, have terminated,” Trump wrote in a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).
