Trump Asks Congress for Defense, ICE Boost in Full-Year Stopgap

The Trump administration wants Congress to boost military and immigration enforcement money in an expected stopgap funding bill that would mostly keep agencies running on autopilot through Sept. 30.

The White House sent lawmakers a request last week for “anomalies,” or changes to current funding levels, in case Congress opts to use a continuing resolution. It’s a formal acknowledgment that government-funding negotiations won’t yield a deal by the March 14 deadline.
