The tumultuous road to passing President Donald Trump’s mammoth tax bill still has some twists to navigate even after the Senate’s approval Tuesday.
House Republicans on both the right wing and center-right have raised loud objections to Senate changes, setting up another challenge for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). He’ll have to wrangle his conference into swallowing the new version after the House GOP advanced it earlier without a single vote to spare. And he’ll have to do it fast if he wants to meet Republicans’ self-imposed deadline of getting the measure to Trump by July 4.
