Trump to Pay DHS Workers, House Set to Stay on Easter Recess (1)

President Donald Trump said he’d sign an order to pay all Department of Homeland Security employees, leading House Republicans to shelve talk of cutting short their Easter recess to try to end DHS’s record-long partial shutdown.

Speaker Mike Johnson told lawmakers in a Thursday conference call that the pending order makes an early return unnecessary, a person on the call said. The GOP lawmakers, who’d been under pressure to scramble back to the Capitol and find a fix, are now set to remain on their two-week break.
