Trump Vetoes Face House Test as GOP Leaders Decline to Whip Vote

House GOP leaders are leaving their members to make up their own minds on whether to side with President Donald Trump or offer a rare rebuke of Republican-led bills he vetoed.

Republican leaders aren’t whipping against votes to override two Trump vetoes Thursday, Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) told Bloomberg Government. The decision could make it easier for House Republicans to vote to overturn the vetoes in a rare split between the party and the president. Both chambers would need a two-thirds majority to override Trump’s move.
