The Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence branch has taken down a handbook the previous administration framed as an important step toward transparency and building public trust.
The Office of Intelligence and Analysis removed its freshly minted policy manual from an online resource page since President Donald Trump took office. The policy guide outlined the rules for I&A officials to collect and analyze domestic intelligence, a sensitive area of work that’s drawn sharp scrutiny from lawmakers and civil liberties advocates for years.
