The Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity agency is terminating employees as part of President Donald Trump’s broader workforce cuts during the ongoing government shutdown.
Layoffs rippled across federal agencies Friday as the White House follows through on a threat to fire workers during a government funding lapse that began Oct. 1. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency within DHS is among those affected, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.
“During the last administration CISA was focused on censorship, branding and electioneering,” she said in a message to Bloomberg Government. “This is part of getting CISA back on mission.”
