A rival firm to the Trump-aligned powerhouse Ballard Partners is expanding and making bipartisan hires with an eye on the midterm elections and becoming a dominant player on K Street.

TSG Advocates, a rapidly growing upstart whose parent company is Ballard’s main competitor in Florida, aspires to be a top firm in Washington too. It’s adding a half-dozen new health care lobbyists this week that it’s snagging from a law firm.

Lobbyist Harry Sporidis, who worked for Republicans on Capitol Hill in the 1990s, is departing the law firm Polsinelli and bringing along a team of five others to TSG, ...
