US Accuses Rwanda of Backing Rebels Shredding Trump’s Peace Deal

The US envoy to the United Nations blamed Rwanda for an ongoing rebel advance in the Democratic Republic of Congo that cast fresh doubt on a tenuous peace accord overseen by President Donald Trump earlier this month.

“Rather than a march toward peace as we saw under President Trump’s leadership in recent weeks, Rwanda is leading the region toward increased instability and war,” US ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz told the global organization’s top decision-making body on Friday, saying the US would hold “spoilers” accountable.
