US Forest Service Chief Pressed Over Agency Reorganization Plan

The planned move of the US Forest Service headquarters from Washington to Salt Lake City is intended to send more resources to field workers, agency chief Tom Schultz told lawmakers as they pressed him on details over the reorganization.

“We’re trying to cut through regulations and drive decision-making down to the men and women who are doing the work,” Schultz said during a Thursday House Appropriations subcommittee hearing on the proposed budget for the agency.
